One Punch Man
Saitama: “If you really want to become strong, stop caring about what others think about you. Living your life has nothing to do with what others think.”
I was late to catch up on the second season of One Punch Man, a story about a hero who finishes all of his fight with just … One Punch 👊 How can this anime be exciting, if it is known that all it will take the hero to win, is just One Punch? Well, you need to watch it to understand. A major segment never connects with this genre, but those who do, go for it. Saitama keeps you laughing with all his antics, and weird monsters with the body size of Godzilla and brain size of Donald Trump, with a lot of philosophical gyan all over the place. I binged through One Punch Man, but was left wanting for more and starte searching for more animes.
Edward Elric: “Stand up and walk. Keep moving forward. You’ve got two good legs. So get up and use them. You’re strong enough to make your own path.”
I did a Google Search for ‘Must Watch Animes’ and read about ‘Fullmetal Alchemist – The Brotherhood’. Was it going to be another ‘invincible hero’ story? It sure looked like that in the opening sequence. But the protagonist of this story, Edward Elric, is a vulnerable character. A story of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse, on their quest for Philosopher’s Stone, discover secrets that are beyond anyone’s imagination. Five gripping seasons, with secrets being revealed layer by layer, and many ‘Oh F’ moments. Colorful. Dark. Bravery. Sacrifice. Humanity.
Yagami Light: “I’ll take a potato chip AND EAT IT!”
When I was done with Fullmetal Alchemist, I had to still see more. My mind instantly said – Deathnote. Deathnote is one of the best series ever created. If you have not seen it, I will urge you to watch it. Deathnote crosses over the boundary of anime and is a thriller with a labyrinth for a plot. The journey of Yagami Light, from Justice to Power. The brilliance of L and N. Shocking plot twists (like GoT in the earlier seasons).
Eran Yaegar: TATAKAE “fight! Now! Do it!”
And currently, I am watching ‘Attack on Titan’. Another story with secrets layered like an Onion. This has a lot of killing and blood at the start (Not to say that killing and blood subsided later). Eren and Mikasa 💜
Any suggestions for what anime I should add to my list?
